Highland Games & Festivals

One of my favorite summer and fall past times here in New England is not going to the beach or leaf-peeping, but rather going to the many Games and Festivals. Celts of all kinds can be spotted...

These are some of my favorite Games and Festivals--don't miss them!

Western Massachusetts Highland Games is a family-friendly event! It's been in Brimfield for the past several years, but we're now looking at a new place to call home. |
New Hampshire Highland Games will be September 19-21 this year. The biggest games in New England, they were at Loon Mountain for around 27 years, but for 2003 have moved to the Hopkinton (NH) Fairgrounds. See you there!

The Irish 2000 Fest is also a definite don't-miss if you want to enjoy a great day of fine Celtic music. It's held at the Altamont Fairgrounds (near Albany), New York. If you've been to the Capital District Scottish Games, it's at the same place. When I last went, the day was a typical autumn day in the Northeast, cool and sunny, and the night was quite chilly. The music was hot, though.
