Tunes of Glory Pipefest 2002

New York City, April 6

The day of the parade was really cold. There were even some snow flurries. I think it was perhaps one of the coldest days of the season, despite the weather having been mild all winter long. Nevertheless it was a wonderful experience to see all those pipe bands marching down the streets of New York City!

Pipefest 2002 was sponsored by Scottish Power and the Scottish Tourist Board.

Sean Connery was a major attraction!

The Town Crier had a few photo ops, too

Before the parade, there were pipers everywhere, some making sure they looked snappy, others making sure they sounded sharp.

Which tartan is that?

Ox Gara in tartan trews. Probably the only warm guy in the parade!

Some of the Massachusetts contingent--not Valley Forge, the Melha Highlanders in the background.
